If you want to know Putin’s go-to guy in the British House of Commons, look no further than Labour Member of Parliament, Chris Williamson.
On Monday, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was confronted by another Labour Member of Parliament, John Woodcock, who outlined Corbyn’s deceptive claims of standing up to Putin. But as the video below shows, this challenge to the not so dear leader enraged Williamson, who told Woodcock to move to the Conservative benches.
Still, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Williamson’s penchant for Putin.
On October 12th 2017, Williamson accepted around $1,400 for two appearances on Putin’s propaganda network, RT. And like any good Putin puppet, Williamson always steps up at the moment of crisis.
Earlier this month, for example, Williamson condemned Labour MPs who support Prime Minister Theresa May’s response to Russia’s attempted assassination of a former British agent on U.K. soil. These “political enemies,” Williamson said, were “baying for blood” by opposing Corbyn’s appeasement of Putin.
Instead, Williamson argues that those who oppose Corbyn’s stance on Russia are warmongers who have no interest in diplomacy. Making this argument, Williamson offers up the Kremlin’s preferred framework, that the choice in dealing with Russia is either (a) accept Putin’s agenda under the pretense of diplomatic compromise or (b) endorse thermonuclear war.
But that’s not all.
Behind the scenes, Williamson is also a fervent voice against NATO and a regular speaker at anti-nuclear deterrence events.
Another service the MP offers Moscow is in his persistent efforts to mobilize British opinion against U.S. policy in Latin America. This includes Williamson’s avowed support for the psychosis-starvation republic of Venezuela.
Ultimately, while it’s not clear whether Williamson’s viewpoints align with Putin’s interests under Moscow’s direction or simply shared attitudes, it’s clear that Williamson has a lot of time for the Kremlin’s agenda.
