WHAT: In response to recent attack ads portraying him as a snobby elitist, Barack Obama ridiculed presidential rival John McCain for admitting he does not even know how many houses he and wife Cindy own (Answer: seven in five cities).
WHY: A McCain spokesman pointed out that Obama, who made $4 million last year and lives in a million-dollar Chicago mansion, shouldn’t throw stones. Neither should McCain, who married a multimillionaire beer heiress.
CURE: Give it a rest. Both candidates live opulent lives far removed from the harsh financial realities facing ordinary Americans.
