Baltimore City police Officer Quandra Johnson faces multiple charges related to identity theft by police in Pennsylvania.
Sources close to the investigation told The Examiner?s Stephen Janis that she allegedly told investigators as part of a plea deal that other officers in her department worked with her.
She also allegedly told investigators that she directed goods purchased with fraudulently obtained credit cards to be shipped to the police department.
What exactly was she receiving at the police department ? and under what name? “Randazzo Incorporated” was printed on one of her fraudulent cards.
Police spokesman Matt Jablow said he doesn?t know if the police are investigating other officers. Huh? Too tough a question, Matt? Find out, Matt. Ask the commissioner, but we?ll pose the question here for you.
We all need to know that our most sensitive information is not being abused by those charged with protecting us.
More importantly, if it is, how come?
Police Commissioner Leonard Hamm?s silence on this issue, the questions surrounding community activist Robert Lee Clay?s supposed suicide and the department?s shredding of documents related to a civil rights suit against it defies common sense.
It also shows contempt for we the people, who expect and deserve our elected and appointed officials to operate ethically on our behalf and ? because it?s right.
Does Hamm hold the people in his charge in such low esteem as Jack Nicholson?s Col. Nathan R. Jessep in the movie “A Few GoodMen”?
Jessep famously told his questioner in court that “You can?t handle the truth! … I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it!”
We can handle it. And we deserve it.
