Now that the election is over, and it looks like the next president will be a Democrat, be prepared for the coming whiplash we’re about to experience as the entire national news media changes course instantly.
For the past four years, every crime under the sun, we were told, could be directly traced to “the divisive rhetoric” of President Trump. All the better if the alleged victims were transgender or black. Bonus points for both!
Linking the White House to violence will be no more. Another “unarmed black man” shot by a cop? Not Joe Biden’s problem! More (probably faked) “hate crimes”? Eh, not as important as talking more about how glamorous Vice President Kamala Harris is on her third cover of Vanity Fair.
Since March, every single new case of COVID-19 has been the fault of the Trump administration’s “mismanagement” of the virus, as the media told it. But the second Biden is sworn in, every measure his administration takes to “control” the pandemic will be framed as a bold action of strong leadership. And despite the certainty that the total number of infections and COVID-related deaths will continue to climb, well, that will be because Biden “inherited” a crisis. Not his fault!
No, in fact, nothing will be Biden’s fault. Under a Democratic administration, the nation will be in complete harmony. There will be no more stories about Muslims, transgender people, and immigrants “living in fear.”
All darkness will become light on Jan. 20. Unfortunately for the Washington Post, it may now need to come up with a new cringe-inducing slogan.
