Philippe Reines is a gross weirdo

Hillary Clinton’s longtime press aide is a notorious hothead. He’s also a big weirdo.

There’s really not much more to add to this, except for a few new bits of evidence.

On Wednesday, for example, Philippe Reines taunted Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter, taking a weird amount of pleasure in the president’s son’s looming divorce. The slavish Clinton devotee also engaged in some weirdly racial sexual fantasizing:

“Vanessa being with a Latin King must’ve driven you insanely jealous. The machismo, the passion. Tough act to follow. Did you wonder if she fantasized about Valentin Rivera when intimate with you?” Reines tweeted. “She did. Every time.”

Well, OK then. And to think: We could’ve had this cool, calm, and collected Clinton acolyte in the highest rungs of government. Alas, we’re a sinful people and we don’t deserve good things.

Then there’s this nauseating anecdote from New York Times reporter Amy Chozick new book, Chasing Hillary, as recounted by the Washington Post:

The Guys constantly mess with Chozick, magnifying her self-doubts. … The undercurrent of sexism spills over when Chozick and Original Guy spar over whether a prior conversation can go on the record, and he randomly paraphrases a crude line from “Thank You for Smoking,” a 2005 film in which a reporter sleeps with a lobbyist for information. “I didn’t know I had to say it was off the record when I was inside you,” Original Guy smirks. (“The words hung there,” Chozick recalls, “so grossly gynecological.”)

Chozick does Reines a solid by not naming him, but basically everyone who read that passage knew immediately that it was him, because he is the guy who says disgusting stuff like that. He confirmed as much later, telling Jezebel, “Amy deserves credit for confessing. Because anyone who’s seen ‘Thank You for Smoking’ knows the problem isn’t Aaron Eckhart’s language or behavior, it’s Katie Holmes’s ethics and tactics. I said it then, I’d say it again today. Oh, one more thing: she and Caroline [sic] Ryan should know this about my own book I’m currently writing: there are tapes. And unlike some, I don’t bluff.”

What is he even on about? And how does that “Thank You For Smoking” quote even work in the context in which it’s presented?

There’s also this bit of weirdness from Nov. 17, 2017:

Charming.
