New York City Mayor Eric Adams has quickly become one of the country’s more insufferable Democratic politicians. He is steeped in the same unearned arrogance that liberal elitists show when insulting those who don’t share their same lifestyles.
While boasting about building tent cities for immigrants being part of New York City’s “brand,” Adams decided to disparage Kansas for no particular reason. “New York has a brand,” Adams said. “And when people see it, it means something. Kansas doesn’t have a brand. When you go there, OK, you’re from Kansas.”

Of course, his perception of New York City’s “brand” is quite different from the reality in most of America. Adams thinks New York City is known for being tolerant, inclusive, and welcoming. The Big Apple is the home to empathy in Adams’s mind, as he pats himself on the back for his immigrant tent cities. Never mind that just one month ago, Adams was whining that Texas was sending immigrants to his sanctuary city and complaining that 2,800 of them represented an “unprecedented surge,” even though much smaller border towns have it much worse.
What is New York City’s actual brand under Adams? So far, it has been violent crime. From Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning, 16 people were hurt in nine shootings across the city. Jails in the city serve as turnstiles, with violent criminals out on the streets shortly after being arrested no matter how many rapes, assaults, or attempted murders they have committed. Women are avoiding the subway system because they have become targets for violent criminals.

That welcoming, tolerant brand that Adams wants to portray doesn’t hold up to crime either. According to a study by Americans Against Antisemitism, there have been 118 people arrested on anti-Jewish hate crime charges in the city since 2018. Only one has been convicted and sent to prison.
New York City’s brand under Adams doesn’t stop with crime either. Adams is an anti-science zealot, punishing children for not getting a vaccine that they do not need. The city has seen an exodus of residents — Adams has resorted to begging Floridians to move back to New York, but you can bet they won’t do so. In spite of all of this, Adams was happy to give vaccine exemptions to celebrities and to attend the Met Gala as a celebrity guest himself. Not caring for the peasants, after all, is his own personal brand.
