Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., the de facto leader of the #Resistance to President Trump in Congress, is becoming very comfortable publicly flinging unsubstantiated smears at members of the Trump administration.
At a festival in New Orleans on Saturday, Waters reportedly said Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson “doesn’t care about people in public housing.”
“He believes that if you are poor, it is your own fault,” the California Democrat continued.
According to The Hill, Waters also promised to go after Carson when he testifies before the House Financial Services Committee, saying, “[If he] thinks that I am going to give him a pass, I am going to take his ass apart.”
Waters, who has criticized others for being “disrespectful” and one who is celebrated by a growing fan base of rabidly anti-Trump progressives, made the remarks less than one month after her Republican peers in the House of Representatives were targeted by a shooter at a baseball practice. At the time that happened, she extolled the virtues of “democratic dialogue.”
And of course, Carson, at whom she directed her remarks, founded a scholarship program that helps underprivileged kids go to college. He also experienced poverty firsthand in childhood.
All that aside, I sincerely look forward to Maxine Waters, a woman who believes she was once a millennial despite having been born in 1938, attempting to take a celebrated neurosurgeon’s “ass apart” during a congressional hearing.
