On Foxconn’s 13,000 jobs, who gets credit? Trump, Scott Walker, or Paul Ryan?

Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., sees Foxconn’s decision to build a new plant in his state not only as a victory for President Trump but also for Gov. Scott Walker and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

Was the announcement of 13,000 new jobs a win for Trump, Ryan, or Walker? “All three,” Duffy said.

“It started with Trump, but Trump gave Walker the opportunity, and Walker hit the ball out of the park,” Duffy said during an editorial board meeting with the Washington Examiner. “Obviously, it’s helpful to have Ryan there too.”

Duffy also argued that deals such as the one Wisconsin was able to secure with Foxconn are more reflective of what voters are interested in seeing from their elected officials. Reflecting on comments made by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., during a Financial Services Committee hearing earlier on Thursday, Duffy said people care more about job creation than questions about collusion with Russia.

“The whole Russia thing, unless you’re a hardened leftist, people don’t give a shit,” he contended. “They don’t believe it; they don’t buy into it.”

“But jobs? A $10 billion investment and 13,000 jobs? That’s awesome,” Duffy said.
