Democrats and the Left constantly decry “disinformation” and threaten to take away First Amendment rights in order to combat it. But that’s only because they rely upon it so much themselves.
Yesterday’s political theater by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is just one of many examples of how they use disinformation to fuel their propaganda machine. Ocasio-Cortez, being led from the scene of a protest by Capitol Police, acted as if she had been placed in handcuffs when, in fact, she had not. Her hands were positioned behind her back, one over the other. It was carefully rehearsed imagery to convey a sense of heroism and courage in the political battle over abortion. Otherwise, there would be no need to use “fake handcuffs.”
Who can forget Ocasio-Cortez’s passionate “weeping” outside an illegal immigrant detention center in 2019 after she witnessed the “inhumane conditions” there? She is a master at faking it in order to trigger an emotional response — or, in this case, perhaps just some political fundraising. All of these theatrics are intended to manipulate public opinion by leaving false impressions.
When progressives accuse others of disinformation, just remember why — it’s what they’re doing themselves.
