A new undercover video by Our Watch, a religious conservative organization, revealed an ACLU attorney instructing California public school teachers to help students get abortions without telling their parents. The ACLU also instructed the teachers to speak about radical secular-left ideology on sex and gender.
The ACLU attorney in the video, Ruth Dawson, offered teachers tips on falsifying attendance records so students could ditch school to get contraceptives and abortions without leaving any kind of trail for parents to find out. “Some districts will do things like they’ll say ‘the student was with an administrator at this time,’ and that administrator, you know, they won’t answer further questions. It’s a little tricky though … there are a few different ways to do it,” Dawson said.
“A lot of times students don’t want to talk to their parents or guardians about these kinds of issues. It’s those who can’t who are in a dangerous situation, or going to have their college tuition taken away,” she continued.
This is insanity. Parents are paying tax money to fund public schools that are lying to them about their child’s whereabouts and safety (and bringing in ACLU instructors in lying). This is a direct attack on parental authority, including parents’ authority regarding college tuition. Parents have every right to attach strings to the money they provide to their college-aged children. It’s their money.
The remainder of the video focused on how gay and transgender topics should be addressed in sex ed class. “Instruction must affirmatively recognize that people have different sexual orientations and must be inclusive of same-sex relationships,” said Dawson, “It is not only bias-free but it is affirmatively inclusive of those folks and relationships.” Dawson also instructed teachers to tell their students that gender is not binary. “There are a bunch of genders,” she said.
Dawson added that all of this material is mandatory. “Schools may not facilitate a selective opt-out just of the queer stuff, just of the LGBTQ stuff in sexual health education … opting out just of LGBTQ stuff is illegal and should be also impossible,” she said.
Leftists object to their own children being “indoctrinated” with religious teachings from the Bible in public schools, and understandably so. Likewise, parents should not have to pay tax money to a school system that forces students to be taught moral principles contrary to their own. To ask that parents have the right to decide where their kids learn sex ed isn’t asking for much, and the fact that we have to politely ask schools to not engage in sketchy abortion cover-ups is beyond belief.
