At least three speakers at the Democratic National Convention used similar language when describing presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s work at the Children’s Defense Fund.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand: “It’s why after law school, she could have gone to a fancy law firm — but she chose to work at the Children’s Defense Fund, where she advocated for children with disabilities.”
Elizabeth Banks: “Did you know that when Hillary Clinton graduated law school, she didn’t just sell out and go to some fancy law firm? She went to work advocating for children and families.”
Donna Brazile: “When Hillary graduated from law school, she could have gone to work for a corporation or a big law firm. Instead she went to work for the Children’s Defense Fund.”
As Republican strategist Rick Wilson said on Twitter, the phrase probably tests well.
