At the last moment, a Minneapolis concert venue abruptly canceled comedian Dave Chappelle’s scheduled performance this week.
“The Dave Chappelle show tonight at First Avenue has been canceled and is moving to the Varsity Theater,” First Avenue, the venue scheduled to host the show, posted on Twitter.
First Avenue, an entertainment venue in Minneapolis, announced it had canceled the comedian’s show after some people allegedly whined about him performing there. The venue released a tweet announcing the change of his show’s venue while proclaiming its support for diversity and artistic expression.
This was laughable cowardice from a supposedly legendary concert venue, and it will be justice if they get sued from here to the moon for their stunt.

“To staff, artists and our community, we hear you, and we are sorry. We know we must hold ourselves to the highest standards, and we know we let you down. We are not just a black box with people in it, and we understand that First Ave is not just a room, but meaningful beyond our walls,” the venue wrote.
Chappelle has become persona non grata — he was even physically attacked at a recent performance — for his spot-on comments about transgenderism. He has been one of the few people with enough courage to point out that the emperor has no clothes. With its reaction to Chappelle, who is no conservative, the Left keeps showing just how much it values informed discourse, let alone the simple right to free speech. Basically, if you don’t agree with their agenda, they will seek to intimidate and bully you into silence by blacklisting you or even with crude physical force.
The theater’s statement is just more typical sanctimonious nonsense from a group of leftists who think they are more intelligent, compassionate, and enlightened than everyone else. They genuflect to a fringe element of society, subordinating science, reason, and common sense to the cause of making the false true.
“We believe in diverse voices and the freedom of artistic expression, but in honoring that, we lost sight of the impact this would have,” the theater’s message reads. “We know there are some who will not agree with this decision; you are welcome to send feedback.”
This sniveling insincerity is so cowardly that it deserves nothing but derision. Performers ought to boycott this theater.
First Avenue does not believe in diverse voices, freedom of artistic expression, or whatever other platitudes to which it is giving lip service. You could say they want diverse skin complexions, not ideas, except that overstates the case. As in the case of Chappelle, they don’t even want diverse performers if the black ones risk saying the wrong thing.
