WHAT: Made $5 billion in grants to shore up failing schools nationwide. In Colorado, various school districts received $26.6 million of this money over the last two years.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: According to the Denver Post, “[c]onsultants are taking home 35 percent, or $9.4 million. …. The money is buying instructional coaches for teachers, leadership coaches for principals, analysts to pore over test data and pricey three-day professional-development seminars on changing school culture.”
