On 420, check out the politicians who will embrace marijuana legalization next

Former Speaker of the House John Boehner joined the board of a major cannabis company last week, reversing decades of opposition to legal marijuana. Since it’s 420, let’s take a (tongue in cheek) look at who among the political elite will be the next to follow in his footsteps and embrace pot.

1. Barack Obama

Judging from his 2012 announcement on same-sex marriage, we predict former President Barack Obama will eventually take a bold, public stance on this hot-button social issue, despite everybody knowing it’s something he already believes.

Expect a dramatic televised interview that will shock absolutely no one.

2. Ted Cruz

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is a huge fan of the “Princess Bride.” Like, to the point that he’s re-enacted scenes. In public. Multiple times.

It’s only a matter of time until one of his interns gives him a heads-up that there is a nonaddictive, relatively cheap substance that makes this 1987 fantasy classic even better.

3. Donald Trump

He has a shady lawyer, an impulsive personality, and a long history with Las Vegas.

Plus, he brought fear and loathing to the campaign trail.

President Trump is pretty much a Hunter S. Thompson character. Supporting legalization is the next natural step.

4. Chuck Schumer

Yes, we know Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is unveiling legislation on Friday to decriminalize marijuana, but we have a feeling he’s bound to eventually go one step further.

Why’s that? Two words: The Schumwich.

Schumer’s favorite sandwich includes two whole layers of pickles, extra onions, extra tomatoes, jalapeños, banana peppers, mayo, mustard and a slab of roast beef.

This is a real thing.

Be honest, does this sound like the lunch of a sober man?

5. Lincoln Chafee

We’re sure that 2016 also-ran Lincoln Chafee, a longtime fan of the metric system, will come around after he finds out that pot is measured in grams.
