The New York Times report on Thursday about problems facing Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and her ridiculous DNA test ahead of 2020 presents a perfect example of liberals’ and their self-defeating preoccupation with racial identity.
Each line of the Times story is a savory look into the tortured psyche of liberals who sprain their necks to prove how woke they are, while simultaneously laying the ground work for self-sabotage once they inevitably run into a race rule they hadn’t yet memorized.
Warren had apparently not studied Title V Rule No. 245.b, which clearly states white women must not take DNA tests to validate their claims of Native American heritage.
“Advisers close to Ms. Warren say she has privately expressed concern that she may have damaged her relationships to Native American groups and her own standing with progressive activists, particularly those who are racial minorities,” said the Times, adding that, “Several outside advisers are even more worried: They say they believe a plan should be made to repair that damage, possibly including a strong statement of apology.”
No, this is not a scene from HBO’s “Veep.” It’s a description of the exhausting daily emotional battle liberals fight inside their own heads over race, gender, and sexuality.
Look at the overwrought tweet composed, in earnest, by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, on Tuesday: “Our future is: Female, Intersectional, Powered by our belief in one another. And we’re just getting started.”
These are not the thoughts of a normal person. And it’s paralyzing. Warren, after what must have been hours of checking her white privilege, managed to muster this response when the Times asked her about any regrets in taking the test (plus her end-zone dance after the results showed she was, at most, 1/64 parts Native American): “I put it out there. It’s on the Internet for anybody to see. People can make of it what they will. I’m going to continue fighting on the issues that brought me to Washington.”
That answer couldn’t have been more uncomfortable if you were physically in the room to hear it while Harvey Weinstein rubbed your shoulders.
Because race supersedes everything else on the Left, and because Warren is so wedded to her story about being an authentic Native American, her own tribe (for lack of a better word) is eating her alive.
“In interviews,” wrote the Times, “several progressives wondered if Ms. Warren’s decision to take the DNA test was indicative of a larger problem for several prospective presidential candidates: that their inner circles of advisers don’t reflect the racial diversity of the Democratic electorate.”
The piece quoted Twila Barnes, a Cherokee genealogist and self-identified liberal, who said Warren “helped perpetuate” the “very dangerous idea” that genetic testing can validate a person’s identity.
Barnes said because of that, she wouldn’t vote for Warren over Trump.
This is the mentality liberals are bringing to 2020. Who can hardly wait?
