Gadhafi in Chad? Hillary: ‘This sounds credible’

Hillary Clinton thought it was credible Moammar Gadhafi, the now-deceased Libyan dictator, was hiding in Chad in October 2011.

In the most recent release of her emails, Sid Blumenthal emailed Clinton about information he received from Seymour Hersh, an investigative reporter for the New Yorker. “Hersh was told that Qaddafi is in Chad,” Blumenthal wrote in the email.

Clinton forwarded the email to Jacob Sullivan, then her deputy chief of staff for policy. “This sounds credible. Can we verify?”

Sullivan replied and said he would look into it.

Four days later, Qaddafi was killed in Libya, during the Battle of Sirte.
