Space Force logo looks a lot like one for Star Trek’s Starfleet Command

President Trump on Friday revealed the logo for the U.S. Space Force, but, as Twitter users quickly pointed out, the logo showed a close resemblance to the logo of Star Trek’s Starfleet Command.

“After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military,” Trump tweeted.

The logo was immediately familiar to Star Trek fans.

In the Star Trek universe, Starfleet Command is based in San Francisco and overseas space exploration, eventually becoming a part of what’s known as the United Federation of Planets.

An initiative of the Trump administration, the Space Force was founded as a branch of the U.S. military in December when Congress passed a spending bill. Last week, Space Force provided a first look at service uniforms for the newly formed branch, which look like traditional military camouflage.
