Corks might not be popping on Wall Street just yet but a little bubbly is definitely in order for lobbyists on K Street. Sen-elect Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., will be joining the Senate banking committee.

Sinema was long a friend of big banks in the House, and the committee appointment represents the return on a well-made investment. The finance sector has been making regular contributions to her political war chest since the moment she got to Washington, D.C.
During her Senate race against Republican Rep. Martha McSally, Sinema was in the top 20 of recipients of campaign contributions from both the banking and the finance sectors. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, throughout her career, the Arizona progressive has cashed $1,254,436 from securities and investment sector and another $320,280 from the commercial banking industry.
Now, thanks to Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Sinema will be in a position to regulate her campaign contributors.
