If you’ve been watching the laughably weak U.S. response to the deadly crackdowns on anti-goverment protesters in Ukraine and Venezuela over the past few weeks and wondering why the Obama administration’s foreign policy is so inept, this tweet by Samantha Power, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, says it all:
Daniel Pearl’s story is reminder that individual accountability & reconciliation are required to break cycles of violence. @DanielPearlFNDN

So according to her reasoning, if the United States executes al Qaeda leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who claims to have personally cut Daniel Pearl’s throat months after masterminding the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, it would perpetuate the “cycle of violence”? Ridiculous.
