Ivanka Trump’s white dog is just a dog. Can we stop imposing race on animals?

Ivanka Trump just got a puppy for her daughter. This shouldn’t be news, but it is, because some people find it triggering that the dog is white.

Noting the dog’s spotless white fur and blue eyes, actress Nancy Lee Grahn (known for acting on General Hospital for more than 20 years) compared Trump to Hitler, and others complained that Trump wouldn’t care about the dog if it were of a different color.

I hate that this needs to be said, but: It’s a dog. It’s just a dog. It has no race. Black dogs were never oppressed by white dogs. Trump can get whatever kind of dog breed she wants, and no one should waste time worrying about it.

The hatred that she’s received for this photo is truly astounding.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize Trump and her father’s administration, but focusing on something as silly as her dog’s fur color delegitimizes actual critiques. Similarly, you don’t have to edit a photo to put a “swastika” on her shirt so you can find something for which to condemn her.

Many of the Twitter users criticizing Trump for her dog have #Resistance, #StayWoke, #SilenceIsComplicity, or #BlockedByTrump in their bios. In their campaigns to fight the current administration, did they ever stop to think that they should at least make their complaints legitimate? They won’t win over any minds by going after Trump’s new pet.

This instance simply illustrates how many on the far Left are so obsessed with hating the Trumps that they can’t stick to facts. If you have to make up reasons to be angry, you just enjoy being frustrated all the time. That’s not healthy for democracy.

A few liberals may be upset about Trump’s dog, but I really don’t care, do you?
