Want to help Donald Trump earn a Purple Heart? Now you can donate to support the effort!
A GoFundMe donation page was launched Tuesday to help send Trump to a conflict zone where he might earn a Purple Heart. The decoration is awarded to those who are wounded or killed while serving in the military.
The page was launched by Cameron Kerr, a Purple Heart recipient who lost a leg in Afghanistan.
“I fully endorse [Trump’s] desire to earn [a Purple Heart] and would happily oblige his interest in doing so, by being one of the first to chip in to fly him to the conflict zone of his choosing,” Kerr wrote on the page. “After all,
you’re never too old to follow your dreams.” [Emphasis in the original]
In all seriousness, Kerr says he plans to give any money raised to organizations that aid Syrian refuees, which Kerr calls “a good cause that Donald Trump would vehemently oppose.” He calls the refugees “decent fellow humans who were unfortunate enough to be in one of these regions when everything around them collapsed, and whom Trump has broadly categorized as likely terrorists unworthy of resettlement.”
The page has raised $590 from 27 people in the last 12 hours. Kerr set a goal of raising $5,000.
The page was created as a response to Trump having a Purple Heart medal given to him by a veteran at a Virginia rally on Tuesday. “I’ve always wanted to get the Purple Heart,” Trump said. “This was much easier.”
