Cable news’s favorite anti-President Trump mental health quack is making the case now that the president is worse than Adolf Hitler.
No, really. This is a thing Dr. Bandy Lee argued this week.
“Donald Trump is not Adolf Hitler,” the Yale University psychiatry professor said Monday in a since-deleted tweet. “At least Hitler improved the daily life of his followers, had discipline, and required more of himself to gain the respect of his followers. Even with the same pathology, there are varying degrees of competence.”
First of all, does she not know how the Third Reich ended? Hitler’s allegedly competent and disciplined “leadership” resulted in disastrous defeat and broke Germany. Has Lee never heard of what Hitler did to the Sixth Army in Russia?
Is it a prerequisite for membership in the anti-Trump “resistance” to know nothing about history? It sure seems like it sometimes.
Lee deleted her tweet after social media users noted correctly that it was both historically illiterate and wildly offensive. But that did not deter CNN and MSNBC’s favorite mental health “expert” from expanding on her original thought about Trump and Hitler, a comparison she has clearly given a great deal of thought.
“Okay,” Lee said, “I have taken it down, since it has upset so many people and was not provoking thought but the opposite. Of note, my statement was about how little Donald Trump believes he needs to do to retain his followership, not to minimize Adolf Hitler’s atrocities.”
She added, “I was focused on his followers and followers only! Donald Trump’s followers make him particularly dangerous. I know most of you understood, and I appreciate it.”
So, to be clear, she was not praising Hitler. She was just saying that Trump’s followers — make him more dangerous than Hitler. Or something. By the way, now is a good time to remind you that Democrats are also responsible for legitimatizing Lee. Recall that they summoned her to Capitol Hill in 2018 to discuss Trump’s mental health and whether it may be necessary to remove him from office.
“[Trump’s] going to unravel, and we are seeing the signs,” she told lawmakers at the time.
On Monday, Lee continued with her Nazi comparisons.
“If we cannot look at parallels in history and learn from them,” she said, “we are truly poised to repeat it. I say so in heartbreak for the 11+ million lives lost, not in their minimization (currently, we are looking at 7 billion at risk, without exaggeration if we soberly thought of it).”
It gets worse.
“A refusal to make comparisons has been a problem, when they have such similarities. Donald Trump’s death toll is now higher than Hitler’s at the same period,” Lee said.
She continued, defending the original point that she had deleted, saying, “While committing mass murder, [Hitler] hid it well and enriched the lives of ordinary Germans with stolen goods. He worked harder to earn his followers. Other than these differences, they were similarly incompetent and destructive.”
Lee’s unhinged behavior is the norm for the woman the media trot out every time they need an alleged expert to declare the president mentally unsound. For the record, Lee has never once conducted an in-person evaluation of Trump, which makes her diagnoses a flagrant violation of the Goldwater rule. Yet she continues to host political events and appear on cable news, where she and her friends leverage their medical credentials to declare the president an insane person.
“It is at least heartening to know there is uniform denouncing of Hitler,” Lee continued Monday, really sticking to her guns in the face of all reason and fact. “Since I specialize in treating violent offenders, I know Neo-Nazis and white supremacists never went away (they have been my patient base for 20 years!). Similar personalities usually attract one another.”
She added, “I look forward to the day when an aversion to comparison does not prevent us from recognizing genocide happening before us. On Friday, there were 100,000 new cases in a single day. Many will experience torture, long-lasting debility, and death. And overwhelmingly minority.”
Earlier that same day, Lee said in a totally unrelated tweet, “Uniform appearances, mindless chants, arms raised toward one ‘leader.’ Remind you of anything?”
In case it was not clear enough already, Lee, who is known outside of her immediate personal and professional circles only because media elevated her for her willingness to accuse the president of being mentally unstable, is really married to the Trump/Nazi comparison.
The media sure know how to pick them, don’t they?
