The Daily Outrage: Nothing says America’s lovin’ like purchasing a low-emission oven

Who: State Department

What: Contributing more than $50 million of taxpayer money toward providing clean cooking stoves in developing countries “to reduce deaths from smoke inhalation and fight climate change.” An official for the United Nations Foundation said that “You’re going to have to create a thriving cookstove industry that can supply both stoves and fuels that people want and need.”

Why it’s an outrage: Securing kitchen appliances for other countries means America is going from hegemon to hege-mom.

Where to vent: Contact the inspector general at 202-663-0340.
