Who: Pastor Charles Worley, Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, N.C.
What: “Build a great big, large fence — 100 miles long — put all the lesbians in there, fly over and drop some food,” Worley said during a sermon earlier this month. “Do the same thing with the queers and homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out … and in a few years they will die out.”
Why it’s dim: This doesn’t sound like the sort of thing Jesus would do. Once the video of this sermon was posted on Drudge Report, it only helped foster the false impression that all opponents of same-sex marriage are hateful bigots.
Cure: Apologize. Retract. Resign. It’s not your place to cast the first stone.
