Last week, a Florida police chief learned that discriminating against white people is still against the law, even if he had the “wokest” of intentions.
Larry Scirotto, named the police chief of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in August, was fired last Thursday after an investigation into complaints he allegedly discriminated against white people to make the police force more racially diverse. Scirotto was accused of racial discrimination against white applicants and existing officers eligible for promotions.
This is the kind of racial discrimination that often goes unreported, but it contributes to the racial divide in the country. The Left has brainwashed the masses into believing racial diversity is the solution for every societal ill, even if flagrant racial discrimination is the only way to bring it about.
One of Scirotto’s more egregious expressions of racial bias was when he commented on a wall of photos of the department’s leadership and proclaimed, “That wall is too white” and “I’m gonna change that,” according to the investigation. Another example involved Scirotto evaluating candidates for a promotion. After passing over a white candidate with 20 years of experience in the department in favor of two minority candidates, Scirotto allegedly asked, “Which one is blacker?”
The investigation concluded Scirotto fostered a “divisive atmosphere” in the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
When confronted with the investigation’s findings, Scirotto admitted to the “too white” comment and said it was part of his approach to making the department more racially diverse. But federal civil rights laws deem it illegal to make employment choices based on candidates’ skin color. This illegal basis appears to be the core of Scirotto’s hiring process. Just because those who benefited from this were nonwhite doesn’t make it any less illegal.
Under the guise of diversity, it has become acceptable for some to discriminate based on race — in this case, against people solely because of their white skin color, but in other cases, because they are Asian. This is eerily similar to the racial discrimination many nonwhite people endured for decades in this country. Even more disgusting is that many people in today’s society actually celebrate these discriminatory acts.
No one deserves to be the victim of the Left’s racism, which tries to equate two wrongs to a right. It is misguided and divisive, and it represents everything wrong with society today. Holding Scirotto accountable goes a long way toward having real racial harmony in the country instead of a retaliatory war against white people.
