Good guy with a gun saves the day, killing mass shooter in Oklahoma

Oklahoma almost had to deal with a massacre involving a gun on Thursday night after an armed citizen took down a gunman who entered a restaurant and began shooting.

According to Oklahoma City Police Captain Bo Mathews, a man walked into Louie’s Grill & Bar in northwest Oklahoma City, Okla., and opened fire, striking two people. As the gunman was fleeing the scene, an armed bystander pursued the suspect, confronting the shooter outside the restaurant, and fatally shot the suspect with his pistol.

Four people were injured in the shooting. The only death was the gunman himself, who has yet to be identified.

“Right now, all I know is that it was just a good Samaritan that was there and looks like he took the right measures to be able to put an end to a terrible, terrible incident,” Matthews told reporters.

Liberals enjoy debunking the theory that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Sometimes a gun isn’t even needed, like the case of James Shaw Jr. when he, while unarmed, heroically stopped the gunman in the Waffle House shooting in April. And sometimes you have a school resource officer like Scot Peterson who, despite being armed, failed to act when a shooter killed 17 people and wounded 17 others in Parkland, Fla., in February.

Whether a gun was used to take down the shooter in Oklahoma City is irrelevant, what matters was this armed bystander, like Shaw, had the courage to confront evil, risking their own life to save others.

Fortunately, no one was killed except for the gunman. And while a motive has yet to be determined, we can at least thank this good guy with a gun for helping stop another potential national tragedy.
