The polarization over masks in the coronavirus era is well documented. It’s a gross oversimplification to put it this way, but Democrats seem to favor making everyone wear them, while Republicans oppose them.
Studies vary as to how well masks work. But given that COVID-19 is transmitted person to person through respiratory droplets, there is an obvious logical appeal. Still, the recent tweets from Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on Sept. 27 are just the latest example of this controversy and why Democrats cannot be trusted on the issue.
