A train carrying GOP lawmakers and their families collided Wednesday morning with a garbage truck, killing one sanitation worker and severely injuring another.

Though it was clear from the get-go that the accident was serious, as photos shared on social media immediately after the collision showed the extent of the damage, certain reporters and political commentators thought it would be a good idea to use the collision as a springboard to crack wise about the state of the modern Republican Party.
