The Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce champions business ? most of the time. When it comes to inclement weather it follows the government?s lead.
In an e-mail Wednesday, the group said, “If Baltimore County government is closed or issues a liberal leave notice, Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce is closed.”
If the businesses who pay them dues operated that way, their customers wouldn?t be well served and the businesses would suffer?
Government offices are known to close down at the rumor of bad weather and worry about their customers, who also pay them, apparently little.
The rest of us don?t have that luxury. We must take a day off to care for children when schools close and/or spend more time driving to and from work to earn our paychecks and serve the customers of the places we work.
We expect nothing less of those we pay to represent us in front of the government. We know better than to expect our expectations to be fulfilled.
