Someone destroyed President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame early Wednesday morning.
“Multiple people — including police — tell me a man walked up with a guitar case and pulled out the pick axe,” KUTV’s Ron Bird reported. “Then, it’s believed, he called police himself to report it, but left the scene before they got here. Now, he’s nowhere to be found.”
If you can believe it, this isn’t the first time that Trump’s Hollywood star has been defaced.
What’s odd, though, is that these star-destroyers keep stopping with the president. Why not go all the way and excise the Walk of Fame of all undesirable characters? Surely, the nameless defacers don’t believe the president is the most offensive thing on that walk. How could they believe that when these names are still on display:

Kevin Spacey: Spacey’s star is located just feet away from Trump’s on the Walk of Fame. The man with the pickaxe almost certainly spotted it during his demolition work. Yet Spacey’s star has nary a scratch on it.
Spacey has been in hiding ever since he was accused in October 2017 of sexual assault by actor Anthony Rapp, who was just a child at the time of the alleged incident. Fifteen additional individuals came forward almost immediately after that to accuse Spacey of similar acts of sexual misconduct, often against minors.
The Old Vic, where Spacey served as artistic director for 11 years, claimed in November 2017 that it had received roughly 20 testimonies alleging inappropriate behavior by Spacey. Scotland Yard is currently investigating six open cases involving Spacey and sexual assault.
His star is still untouched on the Walk of Fame.
Bill Cosby: Cosby has been accused of everything from rape, to sexual misconduct, drug-induced sexual assault, sexual battery, and even child sexual abuse.
More than 60 women claim they were violated by Cosby. Sixty.
On April 26, 2018, Cosby was found guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
No pickaxe, the most dangerous weapon taken to his star was a marker, with which one dissident scrawled “rapist.” That word is now gone, and Cosby’s star is sitting pretty.
Brett Ratner: Nearly half a dozen women have accused this director of sexual harassment and assault. The allegations vary from severe to severer.
Actress Olivia Munn, for example, alleges Ratner once masturbated in front of her on the set of a movie. Actress and model Natasha Henstridge claims Ratner forced her to perform oral sex on him. Another woman claimed she was raped by the director.
Ratner’s star is none the worse for wear.
It’s possible that the people defacing Trump’s star missed these names. Maybe the defacers get tired after going to town on a single star.
At any rate, if the nameless smashers are genuinely interested in cleaning up the Walk of Fame, it might interest them to know that it honors men who have been accused of much worse than anything leveled against the president. Then again, it’s likely these destructive acts are less about cleaning up the walk and more about a feel-good act of performative “resistance.”
