The sickness unto death that infects modern universities is on full display in a course scheduled for this coming fall at Tulane University.
Somehow, Tulane thinks drug-addled, selfie-porn-video actor Hunter Biden is a fit lecturer for students interested in the interplay between media relations and policy.
The elite New Orleans college will feature a course called “Media Polarization and Public Policy Impacts,” which will include a slate of nine “guest lecturers,” most of whom are liberal journalists such as Washington Post columnist Margaret Sullivan and New Yorker columnist Susan Glasser. Somehow, though, Biden is on the lecturer list for the course that, according to its syllabus, “will explore the current state of the media landscape in the United States and how media polarization, fake news, and the economics of the news business impact public policymaking in Washington, D.C.”
At first glance, one would think this report surely is satire, perhaps something out of the Onion or the Babylon Bee. Alas, though, it is all too real.
One wonders what Biden knows about policymaking, since he has never been in a public policy position. Yes, he openly traded his name for pay from foreigners wanting to influence policy, but that is not the same thing.
And one can only wonder what young Biden knows about the media since he has never been a journalist. As for the intersection of the two, the most famous “media” involving himself are far from policy-oriented, as they apparently consist of sex tapes of him with prostitutes while using a crack pipe.
Granted, the establishment media last fall falsely portrayed the soon-to-be president’s son as the victim of “fake news.” Reporters fell all over themselves to spread as a piece of false conventional wisdom that Biden’s laptop and its damning contents were nothing but “Russian disinformation.” But the only disinformation was the claim that the laptop had anything to do with Russia or that its contents were not real.
Now, if Tulane wants a course on how to ride on Air Force Two to secure lucrative influence-peddling contracts, then Hunter Biden is a fit lecturer. If it wants a course on how to get paid obscene amounts as a board member for a foreign energy company while possessing no expertise in the energy industry, Biden is uniquely qualified to teach that.
Or if Tulane wants a full course on how to break every marriage-related cultural norm imaginable, Biden is probably the world’s foremost authority. Consider that he ditched his wife for the widow of his deceased brother, cheated on her with her own sister, then cheated on both of them with a nude dancer, whom he impregnated only to deny paternity falsely, then left the lot of them behind to marry a South African beauty queen a week after meeting her. Hunter Biden is the world leader when it comes to sleaze.
As a bonus, he could use one class period to teach how to fill out gun-related paperwork denying any substance abuse problem while openly admitting in numerous other forums that he has a substance abuse problem.
Seriously, though, only in lefty academia would Hunter Biden be considered a fit course instructor in any subject, even a “guest” instructor.
Tulane’s famous school cheer is called the “Hullabaloo.” For the good not just of Tulane itself, but for the sake of upholding the very notion of academic standards, the entire Tulane community should create a helluva hullabaloo about this course offering. The uproar should not end until Biden is removed from the lecturer list.
