What is happening in America today is deeply troubling. Members of the national left-wing news media, in cahoots with their allies in the Democratic Party, are pushing fake news hit pieces against upstanding individuals. The Democrat-media complex does this on a daily basis to President Trump. Now they have again set their sights on Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The media have given up any pretense of fairness regarding either Trump or Kavanaugh. Instead of acting in the necessary role as America’s “fourth estate,” much of the media is now unfortunately acting as nothing more than the public relations wing of the Democratic Party. Look no further than the latest New York Times piece regarding Justice Kavanaugh’s most recent “accuser.”
The Times published an article using baseless accusations and thin sourcing in an attempt to smear Justice Kavanaugh. Worst of all, the Times purposely left out of their initial piece the fact that the purported victim denied that the alleged event even took place.
Think about that. The victim told friends that she does not even recall such a thing happening. The Times knew that and didn’t appear to care.
You would think that any real journalist would have decided not to publish their story. Unfortunately, the Times stopped practicing journalism the moment Trump was elected. Not only did the paper move forward and print the story, they made the reprehensible decision to leave out vital exculpatory facts. It wasn’t until a conservative journalist pointed out the serious deficiencies that the New York Times’ leadership finally decided to update their story to note the exonerating evidence.
Of course, none of this mattered to the radical Democrats who immediately seized on the article and demanded the impeachment of Justice Kavanaugh, and it wasn’t just members of the far-left “squad” making that demand. Numerous top-tier Democrat presidential candidates jumped right on board as well, despite the fact that the credibility of the story had already crumbled.
This is the new Democrat playbook. They lose elections, and instead of accepting that the American people do not support their agenda, they resort to demanding the impeachment of conservatives like Trump and Kavanaugh. Impeachment, not helping Americans, is the main Democrat agenda these days.
The whole episode is infuriating to me, as it is to so many other citizens. The American people deserve fair and unbiased reporting. Yet again, the New York Times proved that far too many members of the mainstream media are more interested in launching political attacks than they are in actual reporting.
Radical Democrats, “the squad,” and the media are obsessed with sabotaging Trump and anything his administration touches. We need more leaders in Washington who will call out this nonsense and fight back against the liberal machine. That’s exactly why I’m running for United States Senate.
I was a strong supporter of Kavanaugh from the start. I never buckled in my support of him, even in face of the lies and smears coming from the Democrat-media complex. It disgusts me now to see what Democrats did to him and continue to do to him. To have one of my home state senators, Doug Jones, vote against Judge Kavanaugh and help fan the flames of impeachment makes me even angrier.
The people I represent in Alabama support Justice Kavanaugh, and they don’t want to see him used as a punching bag for the liberal left. When I’m serving Alabama in the Senate, I promise always to defend Justice Kavanaugh and our other qualified judicial nominees from these ridiculous attacks. I won’t just speak out against this nonsense, but I will fight back and demand accountability from the liberal media and their Democrat friends in Washington.
The American people have had enough of the unholy alliance between the left-wing media and their Democrat allies, and so have I. As Alabama’s next United States senator, I’ll stand side by side with Trump to fight back against the media’s lies and smears.
Bradley Byrne represents Alabama’s first congressional district in the U.S. House. He is a Republican candidate for Senate in 2020.
