Daily Outrage: NASA execs get blank checks for travel, expenses

WHO: 42 senior executives of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration

WHAT: NASA’s inspector general reports that 42 top execs in the agency are allowed to authorize their own travel and then approve purchases made with their government credit cards.

WHY IT’S DIM: Between October 2009 and December 2010, the 42 executives authorized themselves to spend at least $552,000 in travel and expenses, with no accountability to anybody.
