Who: French President-elect Francois Hollande What: The Daily Mail reported that the victorious socialist flew from his hometown to Paris the night of his election in a $19,000-per-hour private jet.
Why it’s dim: Way to get off to a good start! Obviously, this doesn’t look good for any politician who calls the financial industry his enemy and promises a 75 percent tax rate on top earners. But Hollande had specifically promised he would, if elected, travel by train.
Cure: If you’re going to make that promise, you should probably keep it.
