Did Sanders and Warren forget they hate Apple?

Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren join five other Democratic presidential candidates on the debate stage Friday evening, which is a bit ironic — considering they’ve lambasted one of the night’s hosts.

The debate, held in New Hampshire, is hosted by ABC News and ABC’s affiliate station in the state, as well as a subject of Sanders and Warren’s criticism: Apple News.

As RealClearPolitics White House/2020 reporter (and former Washington Examiner colleague) Philip Wegmann pointed out on Twitter, Warren announced that she would break up Apple if elected, and Sanders criticized Apple’s attempt to promote affordable housing as phony “philanthropic altruism.”

No matter that Warren wants to “break up Big Tech,” and Sanders blames Apple for how it “helped create California’s housing crisis.” None of their previous qualms about Apple will matter tonight as they use the tech company’s news platform to debate their fellow candidates.

They’re benefiting from Big Tech anyway — Sanders and Warren led other Democrats with donations from workers at companies such as Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, and Facebook last year. Sanders raised $491,672, and Warren raised $421,514.

So, they may not have too much of a problem with Big Tech after all.
