Conservatives used to mock Barack Obama’s self-aggrandizing promises in his 2008 convention speech, including Obama’s promise to stop the rise of the oceans. It was typical Utopian liberalism — a bottomless faith in the power of big government.
Tonight Donald Trump put Obama to shame. Here’s a list of some of Donald Trump’s boldest claims tonight:
“I am your voice.”
“Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it…”
“I’m going to make our country rich again.”
“I will restore law and order to our country.”
“I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end. Beginning on January 20th 2017, safety will be restored.”
“Reducing taxes will cause new companies and new jobs to come roaring back into our country. Believe me. It will happen, and it will happen fast.”
“The politicians have talked about this for years, and I’m going to do it.”
