Fox News on Saturday declared Joe Biden the next president, and I would really just like to give a huge congratulations to the network’s own Chris Wallace. I can’t think of a person who’s happier at the outcome.
Other than maybe CNN’s Jake Tapper or his colleagues Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon. Or maybe it’s NBC’s Chuck Todd. Or the entire newsrooms of the New York Times and the Washington Post.
There isn’t anyone out there who worked harder to get Biden elected than the national media. Biden himself didn’t work as hard as they did. He literally sat in a basement for three-quarters of the campaign, only channeling in via Skype to give an “interview” to a supporter, such as Cardi B., or Trevor Noah, or George Stephanopoulos.
The only people who’ve spent more time underground than Biden are dead.
To be sure, it’s not that the media have any particular love for Biden or his running mate, Kamala Harris. (Does anyone?) But the media really, really hated his opponent, President Trump.
And so, they spent this whole year hyping up a virus, instigating violent race riots and, of course, calling the president a racist. Their hard work appears to have paid off.
Congratulations to the media — they’ve earned this victory!
