Biden’s ‘plan’ to open the economy just means killing more jobs and businesses

So far as I can tell, the only thing former Vice President Joe Biden would have done differently than the current administration, as far as reopening the U.S. economy goes, is that he would have supplied stores and restaurants with a yard sign telling potential customers that their establishment is “safe to come in.”

That’s literally what he said during a town hall Thursday on ABC.

“You can open businesses and schools if, in fact, you provide them the guidance that they need as well as the money to be able to do it,” he said. “What’s happening now is we know, for example, you can open a business and you can have a sign on the door that says, ‘It’s safe to come in.'”

He went on to say that the lack of such notification is “why people aren’t going, even when they’re open.” Accompanying the signage, Biden said, would be “social distancing, you have plastic barriers when you go to the cashier, you have separators between the booths, you don’t have large crowds, you reduce the size of the number of people you can have in the restaurant.”

Does any of that sound at all different than what you’ve experienced over the last six months?

Business owner: Why, yes, that’s what we did, but only if we’d had Biden’s little sign to help us out…

By the way, none of this has worked to “reopen” the economy. Businesses across the country are dying by the thousands because they can’t operate like this. It’s not profitable. It’s not even break-even-able. It’s a money-loser.

Biden’s “plan” is an insult to the people who run their own businesses or who know someone close to them who does.

On top of it all, the former vice president has said he’s ready at a moment’s notice to shut everything down again. That’s quite the plan for “reopening” things.
