Georgia senate candidate Michelle Nunn, a Democrat, has once again used images of former President George H. W. Bush in a campaign ad — and has once again left the 41st president displeased.
A new ad released this weekend, titled “Familiar,” features Nunn underscoring her past experience as acting CEO of Bush’s Points of Light Foundation, a clear attempt to distance herself from President Obama.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been able to work with Republicans and Democrats,” Nunn says in the ad.
Bush spokesman Jim McGrath reacted curtly to the ad, saying in an email that the former president, who has endorsed Nunn’s Republican challenger, businessman David Perdue, is not exactly thrilled with his image being used in a Democratic campaign video:
Perdue has taken a page from the Republican Party’s current playbook, employing the strategy of tying his Democratic opponent to Obama’s bleak approval numbers.
Nunn, for her part, denies the association and has distanced herself from the White House as she fights to take the Peach State’s crucial senate seat.
Purdue currently leads his democratic challenger in the polls 46 percent to 45.4 percent, according the RealClearPolitics weighted average.
