Pamela Anderson is a washed-up Russia apologist, not a #Resistance hero

After three years of hyperventilating hysterics that President Trump was a puppet of Vladimir Putin, it looks like Russia is all the rage again on the Left.

A clip shared by Jordan Uhl of Media Matters featuring former-hot-girl-turned-Russia-apologist Pamela Anderson has made the rounds in left-wing circles online, and needless to say, it’s rather disturbing.

The Baywatch star didn’t earn plaudits from the Left for criticizing Meghan McCain’s defense of the Second Amendment or calling for “Medicare for all.” She did so for calling the American military a risk to “national security” and deeming Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange “heroes.”

As you may recall, Manning, who was already found guilty of espionage, is back in jail for refusing to testify before a grand jury against Assange, the WikiLeaks founder and Anderson’s new boy. Assange, currently in custody of law enforcement in the U.K., faced a new federal charge just a week before Attorney General William Barr released the Mueller report, putting Assange’s close ties with the Russian government back in the spotlight.

For all conservatives have griped that the focus on whether President Trump himself conspired to collude with the Russian government was unfounded, Americans are right to be disturbed at the Russian attempt to undermine our democratic process and specifically Assange’s role in exchanging hacked material with the Russians. If enemy number one of the Russia saga is Putin himself, Assange may be a close second.

It illustrates the lack of intellectual rigor and consistency of today’s Left that they should hail Anderson for her defense of Assange and attacks on American troops, while pretending to care so much about Russia. It’s a bit much to trade away any and all standards of patriotism by lauding Anderson, Assange, and by extension Putin, just to score a cheap dunk against McCain.
