Republican Konni Burton won Wendy Davis’ old state Senate seat in Texas after the latter went off to run for governor. On Tuesday, Burton will be sworn in and is having a little fun on Facebook.

Davis became famous in 2013 after her 11-hour filibuster against a bill that would ban abortions beyond 20 weeks (5 months). The pink tennis shoes she wore on that day became a symbol not just for her and her campaign, but also liberals across the country cheering her on.
But now it appears those pink tennis shoes are so 2013. Perhaps 2015 will be the year of black boots?
