For the past few weeks, much of the mainstream media have refused to investigate or report on a series of damaging emails that came from Hunter Biden’s purported laptop. Their reasoning? The emails could not be verified as legitimate, thus the story shouldn’t be treated as legitimate either.
Well, we now know that the emails are in fact legitimate, according to a cybersecurity expert who confirmed the authenticity of Biden’s emails for the Daily Caller News Foundation. Robert Graham, founder of the cybersecurity firm Errata Security, examined the metadata in Biden’s emails and found a cryptographic signature that belonged to Vadym Pozharsky, an adviser for Burisma’s board of directors. This signature confirms that Pozharsky emailed Biden in the spring of 2015 thanking him for “inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together.”
Graham also said he used the DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM signature, within the email to verify that the sender, recipient, subject, date, and body of the email were unchanged from when it was originally sent. The only way the email was a fake, he said, is if someone hacked into Google’s servers, found the private key in Google’s backchannel, and used it to reverse engineer the email’s DKIM signature. In other words, these emails are provably legitimate, and the media’s excuse for its silence no longer applies (if it ever did).
It should be obvious by now that the only reason the media are not treating this story with the depth and vigor their profession requires is because Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is the subject. If it were President Trump on the receiving end, every single media outlet would exhaust its resources looking for hidden corruption or collusion. Just look at the way the media covered the Steele dossier, or Trump’s tax returns, or the Trump Foundation’s business dealings!
But even with the media running cover for his campaign, Joe Biden should understand that this scandal will not suddenly disappear. The FBI has already opened an active criminal investigation into Hunter Biden over allegations of money laundering, according to reports, and Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski said he gave the FBI digital evidence tying Joe Biden to Hunter Biden’s business dealings. Congressional Republicans have also vowed to continue investigating this matter even if Trump loses.
Perhaps nothing comes from these investigations. Maybe this scandal fails to sway a single voter. Both of these possibilities are very likely. But my guess is that there’s a lot more to this story, and it’s only a matter of time before the rest comes out.
