According to New Yorker reporter Margaret Talbot, Canton is “an old out-of-the way waterfront district of Baltimore.”
Huh?
She visited Baltimore multiple times to trail David Simon, “The Wire” producer and one-time Sun crime reporter, for a profile in the most recent issue of the magazine. She obviously didn?t get out much, not withstanding the 11,000 words in the piece.
If Talbot walked around the neighborhood, she would have stumbled on the packed restaurants and bars filled with the city?s hip 20- and 30-somethings on O?Donnell Square or found Dogma ? located in one of the many refurbished factories in the neighborhood ? for an extravagant gift for a pooch in her life. For a profile focused on Simon?s authenticity, her description of the city seems only to mirror the bleak perspective of a certain former crime reporter.
