The Mueller investigation is over; most Americans weren’t paying much attention in the first place

After pinning all of their hopes on Robert Mueller’s Russian collusion investigation, members of the #Resistance just lost their ammo.

Mueller and his team couldn’t find evidence that President Trump and his campaign conspired with Russia in the 2016 presidential election, and that means everyone outside of Washington can breathe a sigh of relief.

If you didn’t follow along with the years-long news cycle, don’t worry. You didn’t have to.

The Left will keep searching for grounds for presidential impeachment, but all of this means little for the average American.

You’d be excused for thinking otherwise. From “Saturday Night Live” skits to George Takei tweets, pop culture has abounded with comments on the Mueller investigation. Christmas was a particularly trying time for people just trying to enjoy the holiday season. Remakes of classic Christmas songs, including “We wish you a Mueller Christmas,” would be enough to make even the more politically inclined wish the world would shut up about politics for a minute.

Celebrities and pundits can’t stop talking about Mueller, not even now. But for the average American, the election interference conversation wasn’t ever that big a deal. They’re just glad it’s over.

The collusion delusion is finally done with, and people outside of Washington can get on with their lives.
