Earlier this month, the Trump administration gave the nation’s largest abortion provider a choice: Stop servicing abortions at your health and family planning clinic locations, or leave the federally funded Title X family planning program.
Planned Parenthood chose the latter, and it is now facing the consequences.
The abortion giant announced this week that two clinics in Cincinnati, Ohio, will be closing as a result of Planned Parenthood’s exit from Title X and the subsequent loss of nearly $60 million the program provided. But according to Planned Parenthood, the only groups responsible are the GOP and the pro-life movement.
Heartbreaking news to share: two Planned Parenthood health centers in Ohio will be forced to close later this month — due to relentless state and federal attacks against sexual and reproductive health care. https://t.co/Wrh4Q7aCGs

Of course, the GOP and the pro-life movement had nothing to do with the Title X showdown. Neither were involved in the decision that Planned Parenthood made. But the abortion giant doesn’t care. Why should it have to adhere to any rules at all, when so much free money from other people has been shoveled into its maw for so long? After pretending for so long that abortion is a negligible part of its business, Planned Parenthood is baring its fangs. And of course, it’s the pro-lifers’ fault — never mind the whole business of accepting responsibility for your own choices.
The Trump administration did the right thing. Taxpayer dollars should not fund abortions, and they legally cannot fund abortions thanks to the Hyde Amendment. That law is finally being enforced after years of negligence. Planned Parenthood had every opportunity to comply with the law and adopt the administration’s regulations, but it chose not to. Planned Parenthood made its bed, now it can lie in it.
