Hey Amber Rose, stripping naked for feminism is so 2016

Model and provocateur Amber Rose posted a picture of herself on Instagram over the weekend baring everything below her waist in the name of her “Slut Walk,” which aims to raise awareness about gender inequality. While Instagram removed it, the photo is still circulating on Twitter.

To bring more attention to the matter, Piers Morgan reposted the photo telling the model to “Put it away, luv.” Rose responded saying Morgan was a misogynist, and he blasted back that it wasn’t misogyny “to think posting nude photos in the supposed name of feminist empowerment is pathetic attention-seeking bulls–t.”

I hate to agree with Piers Morgan here, but posting a picture of your woohoo naked in the name of feminism is like horking down five 10-ounce steaks in the name of the paleo diet.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should, or that it does any actual good for the cause.

It’s not unlike radicals who say and do anything in the name of their First Amendment rights: Speech is protected, sure, but does that mean you should say or write anything you want?

If beautiful women want to post pictures of themselves naked, they should at least be honest in that regard — and figure out why they feel compelled resort to exhibitionist behavior for attention. But to bare your booty and proclaim it’s for feminism is so disingenuous it’s laughable. Nobody believes it and fewer people support said cause because of the needy show.

If anything, it’s not only a contradiction of feminism, but behavior like this actively opposes the movement.

True, first-wave feminism was about achieving equality in the eyes of the law. Societal equality soon followed, and there’s actually more gender parity now than ever in the United States. Actual feminism was about equality regardless of gender. Amber Rose feminism is about equality because of her gender, and to prove it she’s going to post a picture of herself nude.

In doing so, she not only discredits herself but a cause that has true, inspirational roots.
