Hamas official: 50 of the Palestinians killed at border riot were Hamas members

For days, liberals and their allies in the media have portrayed the sensible actions taken by Israel in defense of its southern border against a terrorist invasion as a “massacre” carried out on mostly unarmed peaceful protesters.

But as the fog clears, more and more evidence is emerging that the riot at the border was orchestrated by Hamas and that the deaths were overwhelmingly among Hamas terrorists.

The latest comes from Hamas official Salah Bardawil, who said, “In the last round, there were 62 martyrs — 50 of the martyrs were from Hamas, and the other twelve were regular people.”

As the Times of Israel noted, this revelation comes after, “The Iran-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad had said on Tuesday that three members of its Saraya al-Quds military wing were killed by Israeli forces in Khan Younis.”

In light of the news, the responsible thing would be for the media to adjust its narrative of the past several days. But don’t hold your breath. The typical media hostility against Israel and desire to portray Palestinians as victims combined with the incentive to act as if President Trump’s move of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem is causing chaos in the region provides too strong an incentive to tell the truth.
