Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman is getting nervous as the polls tighten between him and GOP nominee Mehmet Oz.
Fetterman just scrubbed all mentions of Black Lives Matter from the issues page on his campaign website. The phrase does not appear in text anywhere on his website anymore, and it only gets a passing mention in the video on his “Taking on Crime” page. In that video, he appears to be justifying his decision to chase down an unarmed black jogger in his pickup truck while armed with a 20-gauge shotgun.

Crime is a vulnerability for many Democrats, but perhaps none more so than Fetterman. Fetterman has already tried to walk back his position that everyone convicted of second-degree murder serving life without parole in Pennsylvania should be released. That cannot mask his previous support or the fact that he thinks even people who pulled the trigger in their murder cases should be released early.
At a time of rising crime, Fetterman’s campaign is scrambling to cover up his criminal justice record. Oz has been cutting into Fetterman’s once-double-digit polling lead over the last two months. Oz, a terrible candidate in his own right, is gaining momentum, and that trend is apparent across multiple pollsters.
Pollsters that have done multiple surveys in PA recently:
FOX: Fetterman +11 –> Fetterman +4
F&M: Fetterman +13 –> Fetterman +4
Trafalgar: Fetterman +4 –> Fetterman +2Fetterman still with a polling lead but clear where the momentum is

With his criminal justice record in the spotlight and his limited public appearances showing that he is not healthy enough to serve a six-year Senate term, Fetterman’s campaign is sputtering. He’s been put on the back foot not by his opponent but by his political history and rhetoric. Voters want to elect someone who can speak coherent sentences and does not view murderers as victims.
Fetterman is failing on both counts. His entire campaign could end up crashing down around him as a result.
