Myeshia Johnson’s future, unfortunately, involves being a pawn for the Democrats

The ongoing feud between President Trump and Myeshia Johnson, the grieving widow of Sgt. La David Johnson who was killed in an ambush along with three other American soldiers in Niger, is sad. And it’s only getting worse.

Just look at Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father of Humayun Khan who also went to battle with then-candidate Trump, as a predictor. You may well come to the conclusion that Myeshia Johnson will become the next face of the resistance and a pawn of the Democratic party.

Here is a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising email from Khizr Khan on Monday night:

“I love this country. My son died for this country. And like you, I watched Donald Trump’s latest attack on Gold Star families in horror,” Khan said, referencing Trump’s feud with Myeshia Johnson, in an email. “While Donald Trump’s words are devastating, they’re not surprising. Donald Trump can’t comprehend the sacrifice from our service members and families like mine.”

He continued. “I know the only way to stop Trump is to win a Democratic House. I’d walk barefoot to every district in the country if it means Democrats win. But I can’t do it alone. I need you fighting with me. Will you chip in $1 before midnight?”

Khizr’s Army officer son, Humayun, was killed in combat during the Iraq war in 2004. Both Khizr and his wife, Ghazala, delivered an emotional address at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, denouncing then-candidate Trump and his proposed Muslim ban. However, by the time the Khans became political players, their son had been dead for 12 years.

One of the things that’s so remarkable in the case of La David Johnson is the much shorter amount of time it took for the Democrats to politicize his death. Trump (as well as White House chief of staff John Kelly and press secretary Sarah Sanders) whiffed on the opportunity to apologize to Myeshia Johnson and move on. And while the Democrats could’ve taken the high road in all of this, they’ve decided to go the route that exploits the controversy with an unsavory fundraising push. It should leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
