The election will only have been fair if Biden wins, according to Democrats

Democrats swear they’re the ones upholding all of American democracy while President Trump spends his days molesting “the norms,” and yet all they seem to do these days is sow doubt about the legitimacy of the coming election.

In the span of just five minutes Saturday on CNN, three of them said the only way Trump would win in November is if he stole it.

“This man is not going to win fairly. So why are we supporting crooked activity?” — Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina (to which the anchor seriously replied, “I feel your passion”).

“The only way he feels now he can win this against the Biden-Harris ticket is to straight out steal it, and he’s doing it in plain sight, and we cannot let it happen.” — Democratic former Sen. Barbara Boxer of California.

“Whether it is suppressing the vote by instilling fear in people that vote by mail or whether it’s little back-of-the-room meetings between Kanye and his consigliere Jared Kushner, he’s going to find every single way he can to steal this election, to rig this election in his favor.” — CNN liberal commentator Ana Navarro.

It’s worth a million fact-checks from the media anytime Trump claims universal mail-in voting will lead to significant fraud, but there’s not so much as a peep when Democrats state that the election will have been illegitimate unless their candidate wins. Unless, of course, you include, “I feel your passion.”

So much for all that “undermining the integrity of our democracy” talk.

It’s apparently Trump’s great scheme to fix the November election by — wait for it — slowing down the mail! Admittedly, this is only a little more impressive than the Democratic effort to defeat Trump by advocating for a never-ending economic shutdown in response to a virus that is largely harmless to most of us.

But the problem with the charge that Trump is tinkering with the post office in order to rig the election, in addition to being untrue, is that slowing down the rate at which votes are counted does not mean they won’t be. So long as a mail-in vote is postmarked by the proper deadline, it will be tallied. That’s the way it works.

Like most people who’ve heard of the internet, Democrats don’t seriously have a burning passion for the post office. If they did, it wouldn’t be bleeding money year after year. If anything, it looks like they’re trying to sabotage it further by refusing the fund it in a stand-alone bill, which the White House has said it is willing to negotiate. (Instead, Democrats are trying to pass funding for the postal service in a bigger economic relief package, which has a bunch of crazy spending Republicans don’t agree with.)

You know how Democrats scream bloody murder anytime they see a group of people at a beach or pool party because “social distancing!” but then won’t say a word about the massive Black Lives Matter protests?

Their commitment to the integrity of our elections is just like that. It only matters when they think it benefits them politically.
